Painter 5 can create interesting gradations that can be used for web backgrounds. Pick two colors on the Art Materials: Color Palette. Then click on the Art Materials: Grad Palette and pick the top middle Gradation Order on the bottom to have the gradation darkest in the middle. |

Create a new file, 20x20 pixels, and use the Fill
Tool  to fill the file
with the gradation.
The file can be small in the vertical direction because web backgrounds repeat both vertically and horizontally. A vertical line continues infinitely in that direction. The width is small to force a "pipe" look to the background by repeating the gradation over a short distance. Save the file as a GIF and use it as a background. |
